Crafty Knitting Wench with Mad Photog Skills

Partly because I'm a graphic designer, but also because my own photographs tend to be less than imaginative, I'm always inspired by good photography. I especially like well done knitting photography, which often showcases the wide range of yarn palette and texture options. The Crafty Knitting Wench falls into this category with beautiful knitting vignettes of yarn. I drool every time I visit and endeavor to punch up my own photographs.

Baby Liam's Booties

Liam's BootiesThe pattern from these booties is the same as the pink ones I did back in February 2005 from Knitting for Baby by Melanie Falic and Kristin Nicholas. The first time they turned out to be way too huge, but this time I knitted them using size 3 needles and used Debbie Bliss' Baby Cashmerino in 204 Blue. I also used an i-cord instead of ribbon for the tie. This is a fun pattern to knit, but it's knitted flat and now having knitted two hats in the round, I think I'm ready to tackle socks! Once I knit a few pairs of adult and youth socks, I'd like to knit Ann Budd's Better Than Booties Baby Socks.

I Am Shetland Wool, Hear Me Roar

I am Shetland, hear my roar
You are Shetland Wool.
You are a traditional sort who can sometimes be a little on the harsh side. Though you look delicate you are tough as nails and prone to intricacies. Despite your acerbic ways you are widely respected and even revered.

Found this "What Kind of Yarn Are You?" quiz through Mara.

I'm overjoyed to learn that I am revered. Will someone tell my husband this?

The Sly Raccoon with Craft Inborn

Critter Scarf and HatAs a Christmas present, I knitted this scarf and hat for my 4 year old nephew. The scarf is the Raccoon Critter Scarf pattern from Morehouse Farm Yarns. Although I've heard wonderful reviews of Morehouse Yarn, I wanted this to be machine washable, so I used Lion Brand's Wool-Ease in Wheat and Chocolate Brown.

The pattern for the hat came from Ann Budd's The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns, which was a Christmas present to me from Mara at Knitting Obsession.

Only Teddy Bears Will Do Baby Sweater Finished!

Teddy Bear SweaterI finally finished the Only Teddy Bears Will Do Baby Sweater. I blogged about this a few months ago. This is a Crystal Palace pattern, but I used a microfiber/cashmere blend in denim blue on size 5 needles.
